Aftercare with Second Skin

HOW LONG TO KEEP ON YOUR BANDAGE

Leave the second skin on for 3-4 days.
Keep showers short + not too hot.
Do not aim water directly on to the bandage.
Avoid submerging in water for long periods.

In the next few days, the bandage may begin curling a bit around the edges- remove it if the bandage peels off over the tattoo.
Please remove the bandage if you experience leakage from the edges, if water gets underneath the bandage, or if you experience irritation.
Signs of irritation include red rash outside the bandage.

REMOVAL

It’s easiest to remove the bandage in the shower.
Use warm water, and peel low + slow.
Wash with a gentle, fragrance free soap.
Pat try with a paper towel or clean towel.

Moisturize with Aquaphor (if you are not allergic to lanolin), or any unscented lotion up to 2-3x per day.
Do not pick, scratch, or over moisturize.

AVOID WHILE HEALING

Baths, pools, hot tubs.
Intense sweating for first five days.
Tight friction clothing.
Sun exposure.
Touching your tattoo with dirty hands.

NORMAL VS ABNORMAL

Normal:
Fluid under bandage, slight itch, mild redness/heat, mild bruising (rare).

Abnormal:
Thick green/yellow pus, fever, severe pain or swelling. Please do not try to tough it out. Visit a doctor if you experience negative side effects.

Aftercare with Plastic Wrap

HOW LONG TO KEEP ON YOUR BANDAGE

Leave the wrap on for 2-4 hours.
After removing the wrap, wash your hands then gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water. Ensure that you remove all plasma and blood residue.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

DAYS 1-14

Wash 1-2x daily.
On the first night, your tattoo may ooze fluid. Try to sleep with loose fitting clothing in order to prevent your tattoo from sticking to your bedding.
Once your tattoo begins to scab, you may apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor (if you are not allergic to lanolin) or any unscented lotion 2-3x per day.
Do not over moisturize.
